Outpatient Primary Care APP (PA/NP) – Western, NC
UNC Caldwell is the choice for health care in Caldwell County. The Emergency Department sees approximately 30,000 visits a year. UNC Health Medical Group provides the majority of primary care and select specialty care to our market from thirteen separate medical park locations throughout the county. Our 137‑bed hospital is a member of the UNC Health System located in the Greater Hickory Area of Western, NC.
Position Features:
Location – Westpointe Medical Practice, 2651 Morganton Blvd., Lenoir, NC 28645
Hours – Monday through Friday, 8 am to 5 pm
36 patient contact hours per week

Seeking an NP or PA to assess and develop treatment plans for patients with acute and chronic illness. Prior Primary Care Clinic experience is required.

Summary A Nurse Practitioner functions as part of the interdisciplinary healthcare team in accordance with privileges approved by the credentialing committee to provide high quality, cost‑effective care to patients within the APPs scope of practice in collaboration with a supervising physician. The APP reflects the mission, vision, and values of the organization, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and other regulatory and accreditation standards.
Responsibilities
Clinical – obtains relevant health and medical history, performs thorough physical assessment, reviews and interprets diagnostic tests, develops differential diagnoses, implements treatment plans, orders evidence‑based pharmacological agents, schedules follow‑up, conducts preventive screening, maintains records, and participates in quality improvement projects.
Education – educates clients and families regarding conditions and treatment, collaborates with staff, develops educational materials, provides instruction to physicians and students, and participates in learning activities.
Leadership – provides instruction to staff, participates in community outreach, leads initiatives to improve health care delivery, and participates in systems improvements.
Professional – interacts respectfully and timely with patients, families, and coworkers, responds to customer needs, accepts responsibility, and shares workload.
Quality/Research – engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management, leads interdisciplinary teams, initiates protocols, and develops new clinical programs or services.
Other Information Education Requirements:
Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider (APRN or PA) program.
Licensure/Certification Requirements:
Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider in North Carolina; board certification if required by the Department. DEA.
Professional Experience Requirements:
No prior experience required.
Knowledge/Skills/and Abilities Requirements:
Demonstrated clinical competency, effective leadership skills, strong interpersonal skills, ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrated written and verbal communication, strong analytical skills, effective interaction to ensure successful care, documentation in the medical record to substantiate accurate billing.
