The California Post Sports department will deliver muscular coverage of the biggest teams in town, from the locker room to the front office. Our Tech team will reveal the latest innovators and innovations that will shape the nation’s future.
The California Post video team is seeking a do it all
producer, scriptwriter and on‑camera host
to help create compelling, shareable videos for The California Post and our ancillary distribution and social channels.
The California Post producer/host must be an idea factory with a can‑do attitude and know all the latest local, national and international news. They should have a passion for creating video journalism for multiple digital platforms that will resonate with our audience — topical, fearless, common‑sense. Per our publication’s mantra, you agree that news doesn’t have to be boring and you appreciate the odd and unconventional stories as well as important ones.
Candidates must be equally comfortable delivering short video news summaries, studio anchoring, on‑location reporting as well as participating in longer form discussion series and analysis. Must be an experienced interviewer and able to create news videos from on‑scene locations. Must have interest across a variety of topic areas from national news, Hollywood, business and innovation, sports, tabloid fare and societal trends.
Strong on‑camera skills and presence including:
Scripting your own content about television/celebrity news
Interviewing in field and studio
Delivering content without a teleprompter
Strong production skills and editorial judgment including the ability to:
Strong understanding of visual storytelling
Creating captivating social‑first video
Pitch trending stories
Adapt content to different platforms for maximum reach and impact
Ability to work closely with a production team
Requirements:
At least 5 years of demonstrated on‑air experience on digital platforms and social media channels
Experience interviewing notable individuals in the studio and in field
Production experience on digital platforms
Thrive in competitive, fast‑paced news environment
Previous employment at a digital news publication or website a plus
Entrepreneurial/helping build a new function in our department
Open to working evenings, holidays or weekends when required
Social media savvy to make sure those stories get viewed
Must enjoy working collaboratively and accurately in a fast‑paced but fun environment
Attention to detail and journalistic values of accuracy and fairness a must
Familiarity with California preferred
