Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) & Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist – hireneXus We’re seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Radiation Safety Officer (RSO) and EHS Specialist to lead radiation safety and environmental health initiatives for our manufacturing operations. This position plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, compliant, and high-performing work environment across all departments.

What You’ll Do Radiation Safety

Serve as the site’s Radiation Safety Officer, ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations.

Develop and implement safety procedures, training, and monitoring programs to minimize exposure and risk.

Conduct inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and processes to verify compliance.

Maintain accurate documentation and radiation monitoring data.

Provide technical guidance and hands‑on support to teams working with radioactive materials or radiation-producing equipment.

Partner with regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders to address compliance issues and implement best practices.

Environmental Health & Safety

Lead and support EHS programs that align with ISO 45001 standards and promote a strong safety culture.

Conduct risk assessments and implement corrective actions to eliminate or control hazards.

Develop and deliver employee training focused on safety awareness and environmental responsibility.

Investigate incidents, identify root causes, and drive continuous improvement.

Track EHS performance metrics, prepare reports, and communicate key insights to leadership.

Serve as a liaison with auditors and regulatory bodies to ensure ongoing compliance.

What We’re Looking For

Bachelor’s degree in health physics, medical physics, nuclear engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

5+ years of progressive experience in radiation safety, including at least 2 years in an RSO role.

Strong understanding of NRC, OSHA, and radiation safety regulations.

Experience supporting ISO 45001 or other certified EHS programs.

Excellent communication, analytical, and leadership skills.

Professional certifications such as CHP, CHMM, CSP, CIH, or NRRPT are a plus.

Willingness to travel occasionally to support other company locations.
