Summary This is a full‑time position requiring the Senior Account Executive to interact with clients and develop relationships in order to meet clients’ needs. The Senior Account Executive will research, analyze, and evaluate medical, dental, life, disability and other benefit plans and act as a benefit advisor for fully insured and self‑funded clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Maintain communication with Consultants to strategize overall client needs
Conduct pre‑renewal visits and provide benefit and plan design strategy, benchmarking information, and survey material when necessary
Oversee marketing and RFP process until renewal completion
Coordinate with Benefit Analyst to provide necessary documentation and timelines for RFP
Peer‑review spreadsheets and client recommendation write‑ups
Negotiate and ensure proper assignment of client commissions; prepare commission checklists for renewals
Act as liaison between insurance carriers and clients to communicate final plan decisions, rates, and sold commissions
Manage activities of Benefit Coordinator, including post‑enrollment tasks
Conduct regular client meetings with management staff (e.g., HR, CFO, Healthcare Committee) to review service, compliance, education needs or client experience
Conduct employee meetings and prepare communication pieces for open enrollment such as PowerPoint presentations and newsletters
Handle escalated claims and complex compliance issues; coordinate with Client Service Manager to review servicing needs and identify educational opportunities
Review certificates, SPDs, SBCs, contracts, and plan installation materials for accuracy
Build and maintain corporate wellness programs using carrier and third‑party vendors as resources
Keep clients aware of industry trends, events, and all state and federal regulatory updates, explaining legislative guidelines such as COBRA, HIPAA, ERISA, Section 125, Medicare Part D, ARRA and Health Care Reform
Consult with clients to ensure they utilize appropriate resources for compliance requirements
Meet with carriers regularly to stay updated on product and benefit plan information
Seek opportunities for cross‑selling and present new NFP initiatives and products (e.g., 401K, P&C, Evolution 1, Vitality, EASE, Worksite, and HR Services)
Ensure all client data is entered into the CRM System
Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance with all client information obtained in the course of work
Knowledge, Skills, and/Or Abilities
Knowledge of benefits administration, health care reform, industry trends, carrier products and services
Ability to work independently and in a team setting
Ability to anticipate and meet client and team needs
Excellent interpersonal skills in communications with both external and internal clients
Demonstration of project management and consulting skills
Effective time management and decision‑making skills
Ability to express ideas clearly in written and oral communications
Strong Microsoft skills (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook)
Education and/or Experience
Three‑year college or university degree
3+ years of health and welfare consulting experience (preferred)
Certificates, Licenses, and Registration
Valid Ohio Life, Accident and Health License
Ongoing education required
CE requirements
HIPAA certification
NFP and carrier compliance training
Supervisory Responsibilities
No direct supervision; the role requires oversight and collaboration with the benefit administration team involved with each client’s book of business
Working Conditions Climate‑controlled open office environment. Travel to client offices and work locations 25% of the time, with additional travel during periods of heavy activity such as fall open enrollment season.

The base salary range for this position is $45,000 to $130,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case‑by‑case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance‑based incentives.
