Reports to: Vice President of Sales – Control Group.
About us: RCS Electric Actuators, a division of Dresser Utility Solutions, is a leading provider of actuators, measurement, instrumentation and piping solutions to the natural gas distribution and transmissions markets. RCS has introduced the latest expansion to the RCS SurePowr actuator product line with Sure 65, a Spring-Return electric actuator to be utilized in the transit tunnel and ventilation market.
Position Summary: The Sales Manager – Electrical Actuators is responsible for driving sales growth, market share, and brand presence for our line of electrical actuators RCS across North America. This role combines strategic business development (“hunter” mindset) with strong technical knowledge of actuation solutions used in Oil & Gas, Water, Power , and Industrial process markets. The ideal candidate is a proactive sales professional with solid field experience, capable of identifying new opportunities, managing key accounts, and developing distribution and OEM channels.
Business Development
Develop and execute a regional sales strategy to grow market share in North America.
Identify and pursue new business opportunities within OEMs, EPCs, distributors, and end users.
Lead the sales cycle from prospecting to negotiation and closure.
Establish and maintain a robust sales pipeline through CRM management and forecasting accuracy.
Identify New Product Introduction (NPI) opportunities and drive portfolio maturity through continuous innovation, market analysis, and lifecycle management to ensure long-term competitiveness and growth.
Account & Channel Management
Manage and support existing channel partners, ensuring alignment with company goals and performance expectations.
Build strong customer relationships with decision-makers at all levels (engineering, procurement, and operations).
Coordinate technical presentations, product demos, and site visits to promote company solutions.
Monitor competitor activities and market trends to identify business threats and opportunities.
Technical & Commercial Support
Collaborate with engineering and product management to provide tailored actuation solutions that meet customer requirements.
Prepare commercial proposals, review bid specifications, and negotiate commercial terms.
Participate in industry events, trade shows, and customer training programs to increase visibility and technical credibility.
Requirements: Education
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial ) or related field.
Experience
Minimum 5+ years of experience in technical sales, preferably in electrical actuators, valve automation, or industrial controls.
Proven track record of achieving or exceeding sales targets in a competitive, technical B2B environment.
Experience working with distributors, OEMs, EPCs, and end users.
Familiarity with key communication protocols (Modbus, HART, Foundation Fieldbus, Profibus) and actuation principles.
Skills
Strong negotiation, presentation, and relationship-building skills.
Self‑motivated “hunter” profile with the ability to work independently and travel frequently (~50%).
Solid understanding of automation systems, valves, and process applications.
CRM proficiency (e.g., Monday, Salesforce) and Microsoft Office Suite.
ADA Requirements
Frequent travel to customer locations within the assigned territory; occasional overnight travel may be required.
Ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Ability to communicate effectively in person, by phone, and through written correspondence.
Work may occasionally require carrying presentation materials or product samples.
