Organization Radiation Oncology/Therapists

Job Summary The radiation therapist is an integral part of the radiation oncology treatment team. This person is responsible for the accurate delivery of therapeutic radiation treatments to patients and simulations for patient treatments under the direction of a radiation oncologist. The therapist must have a thorough understanding of the rationale for radiation therapy as well as skills in patient assessment and interpersonal communication.

As a Radiation Therapist, you'll play a vital role in the precise and compassionate delivery of therapeutic radiation treatments, helping patients navigate their cancer journey with dignity and hope.

What You’ll Do

Deliver daily radiation therapy treatments using Varian Linear Accelerators (Linac).

Perform CT simulations and clinical simulations per protocol.

Accurately document treatment records and maintain compliance with safety standards.

Collaborate with radiation oncologists and the care team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Where You’ll Work

Primary Location: The Vanderbilt Clinic – Nashville, TN

Optional PRN Shifts: Lebanon, Franklin, Spring Hill, and Clarksville locations

ARRT Certification (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists) – Required

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Administers daily radiation therapy treatments to patients assigned to the treatment unit, accurately and efficiently.

Maintains records of daily treatment and other records as required.

Participates in orientation and training of all new radiation therapists to include treatment unit-specific procedures and protocols.

Performs computed tomography (CT) simulation procedures and clinical simulations according to established department protocols.

Provides technical support for radiation therapy and CT simulation equipment.

Position Qualifications

ARRT Certification – Required

Strong interpersonal and communication skills

High emotional intelligence and compassion for vulnerable patients

Flexibility and a team-first mindset to support care delivery across locations

Experience Level: Less than 1 year

Education: Graduate of an approved discipline-specific program
