Lab Tech IV
to join a government organization located in
Fort Detrick, MD.
Responsibilities of the Lab Tech 4 include:
Perform aerosol exposures and assist in the design, testing, and maintenance of aerosol equipment.
Generate, characterize, and sample biological aerosols to support research studies, including animal plethysmography and aerosol supervision.
Conduct laboratory tasks under Study PI guidance in compliance with IACUC protocols and GLP standards.
Operate in BSL‑2, BSL‑3, and BSL‑4 environments, supporting 75–120 aerosol exposures annually.
Write, revise, and review SOPs to meet GLP requirements (10–15 annually).
Assemble, test, and troubleshoot aerosol systems; document testing and maintenance.
Calibrate, validate, and certify aerosol systems (8–12 annually) per SOPs and GLP standards.
Perform and supervise biological decontamination of Class III biosafety cabinets post‑aerosol (75–120 annually).
Certify and maintain Class III biosafety cabinets and transporters (12–15 annually).
Collaborate with leadership to develop technical training programs and assist in staff training.
Complete annual GLP training and maintain compliance records.
Report safety or SOP non‑compliance per guidelines.
Maintain enrollment in CS‑PRP and BPRP programs as required.
Qualifications for the Lab Tech 4 include:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
Experience in laboratory equipment design, aerosol systems, and high‑containment environments.
Familiarity with GLP standards, IACUC protocols, and biosafety procedures.
Strong technical writing skills for SOP development and documentation.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a regulated research setting.
Willingness to undergo required certifications, including CS‑PRP and BPRP enrollment.
U.S. Citizenship required; Secret clearance preferred (sponsorship available).
Compensation for Lab Tech 4 includes:
Rate Range: $65,000–$75,000 annually, depending on experience.
Comprehensive Benefit Package: Medical/Dental/Vision, 401K, Sick Leave as Required by Law.
