To provide support to the GI/Pulmonary department by assisting in quality patient care, working effectively within an interdisciplinary team, and maintaining a safe patient care environment while maintaining a competent skill level as an endoscopic technician.
- Assists with patient care activities and related services under the supervision/delegation of the registered nurse and/or physician, including intraprocedural support, specimen retrieval, preservation, labeling, and transportation.
- Supports safety initiatives like timeout processes, equipment traceability, and safety event reporting. Prepares procedure rooms and equipment as per physician specifications.
- Performs high-level disinfection and reprocessing of equipment/scopes following established standards.
- Calibrates, operates, and maintains equipment, reporting repairs as needed.
- Documents procedures, images, videos, and patient charges using relevant systems.
- Maintains inventory, stocks supplies, and performs clerical duties such as answering phones, filing, data entry, and scheduling.
- Assists with patient positioning and transportation, utilizing proper techniques.
Licenses & Certifications: BLS for Healthcare Providers from AHA required within 6 months unless exempted by department leadership.
Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Typically 1 year in a patient care role such as nursing assistant or medical assistant.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment, basic computer skills, excellent communication and organizational skills.
