Job Summary:

Perform specialized work in emergency communications, including answering police service calls, dispatching officers, monitoring alarm systems, maintaining logs, and performing clerical tasks. Work under general supervision, exercising initiative and judgment under stressful conditions. Work is reviewed through observation, logs, tapes, and supervisory meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D. or equivalent, plus six months clerical experience. Prior communication experience preferred.
  • Must possess FCIC/NCIC certification within 3 months of employment.
  • Typing speed: 25 CWPM.
  • Must pass police background check including polygraph.

Additional requirements vary by level (I, II, III) and include certifications in radio, teletype, or related fields, and specific experience levels.
