The System Administrator, Linux Engineering is responsible for effective installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of Linux systems hardware and related infrastructure. The Sysadmin will be focused on improving the stability and performance of the systems, maintaining, and improving the security posture of the systems, continuous monitoring of system health, and troubleshooting issues that arise. This individual is accountable for Intel Linux systems that support infrastructure core applications. Responsibilities on these systems include SA engineering, operations and support, maintenance, and research and development to ensure continual operation. The environment is a fast paced one, so the successful candidate must be able to prioritize effectively and work independently in a dynamic environment. Engineering of systems administration-related solutions for various projects and operational needs. Install new and rebuild existing servers, configure hardware, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements. Operational management of 1000+ servers. Implement processes and procedures for maintaining all server environments and creates /updates documentation. Contribute to and maintain system standards and security posture of systems in accordance with written policies and procedures. Works with project teams and technical groups to identify and define technical requirements. Works with IT teams to address performance and capacity issues with existing systems. Investigate and troubleshoot issues and responds to high priority and escalated trouble tickets and communicates status and resolution to end users and management. Responsible for securing Linux servers including identity, patch, and access management. Research and recommend innovative, and where possible, automated approaches for system administration tasks. Identify approaches that leverage existing resources. Writes and maintain scripts in at least one of Perl, python, or ruby as part of a team moving towards implementing modern DevOps concepts using tools including git, continuous build/integration, and infrastructure as code. Occasional work after hours or weekends for scheduled changes or incident resolution. · Cross functional engineering knowledge across the technology stack. Duties include, but not limited to, incident management, change management, mitigating customer events, PCI/HiTrust/SOC compliance/audits, vulnerability remediation, patch management, DR tests, and ad-hoc activities to support business requirements. Expert level Linux (RHEL/CentOS preferred) administration and support experience in a major enterprise environment. Strong understanding of Linux packaging concepts (dependencies, conflicts, repositories, package signing) Understanding of CIS, OpenScap and similar security benchmarks. Knowledge of SELINUX, Iptables, Firewalld Advanced knowledge and experience creating and executing shell scripts or other systems scripting languages (bash, Python, Ruby, Perl) Team player and ability to work independently and effectively under pressure in a high paced and energetic environment. Ability to make critical decisions affecting system availability and security posture. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to learn quickly and work independently.
