Associate Counsel / Senior Associate Counsel
A leading national construction and design firm is seeking a talented Associate Counsel or Senior Associate Counsel to join its growing legal team. This is a rare in‑house opportunity to work closely with the General Counsel on sophisticated, large‑scale real estate and construction projects across the country.
The ideal candidate will have significant experience in construction contracts or litigation, including matters involving risk mitigation, bonding, breach of contract, or lien law. Experience drafting and negotiating complex design and construction agreements for developers, owners, or contractors is a strong plus.
This hands‑on role offers direct exposure to major development projects, contract negotiations, and dispute resolution, with the ability to shape strategy from project inception to close‑out. The position requires an Illinois or Missouri bar admission, excellent judgment, and a collaborative mindset.
Responsibilities
Draft, review, and negotiate construction contracts and related agreements.
Advise on risk mitigation, bonding, breach of contract, and lien matters.
Represent the firm in litigation and dispute resolution.
Collaborate with the General Counsel and project teams to develop legal strategies from inception to close‑out.
Qualifications
Bar admission in Illinois or Missouri.
Significant experience in construction contracts or litigation.
Strong drafting and negotiation skills for complex design and construction agreements.
Excellent judgment and collaborative mindset.
