Business Data Analyst

Job Description

We are seeking a Business Data Analyst to join our data‑driven team and turn raw data into actionable business insights. You will partner with stakeholders across operations, finance, marketing, and product to identify opportunities, measure performance, and drive decision‑making through rigorous analysis and clear storytelling.

Key Responsibilities

• Translate business questions into data requirements: Collaborate with department leads to define KPIs, metrics, and reporting needs.
• Extract, clean, and analyze large datasets using SQL, Python (pandas, NumPy), or R from databases (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), data warehouses, and APIs.
• Build and maintain dashboards & reports in Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Mode to monitor business health and surface trends.
• Perform ad‑hoc and recurring analyses: Conduct cohort, funnel, A/B test, and ROI analyses to evaluate initiatives and recommend optimizations.
• Forecast and model business scenarios: Apply statistical techniques (regression, time‑series, clustering) to predict outcomes and quantify impact.
• Present findings to non‑technical audiences: Create executive summaries, slide decks, and live walkthroughs that influence strategy and resource allocation.
• Drive data quality and governance: Identify anomalies, document data lineage, and partner with engineering to improve pipelines.
• Support experimentation culture: Design test frameworks, calculate sample sizes, and measure statistical significance.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science, Business Analytics, or a related quantitative field.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience in business or data analytics roles.
• Advanced SQL (window functions, CTEs, performance tuning).
• Proficiency in Python or R for data manipulation and modeling.
• Experience with BI tools (Tableau or Power BI required; Looker a plus).
• Strong grasp of statistics (hypothesis testing, confidence intervals, regression).
• Proven ability to communicate insights to senior stakeholders (VP/C‑suite level).

Preferred Skills

• Experience with cloud data platforms (Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks).
• A/B testing and causal inference frameworks (e.g., CUPED, difference‑in‑differences).
• ETL/ELT pipeline knowledge (dbt, Airflow).
• Domain expertise in [e‑commerce / SaaS / fintech / healthcare – tailor as needed].
• Familiarity with product analytics tools (Amplitude, Mixpanel, Heap).
