Seasonal Support Worker

About This Opportunity:

This position is responsible for providing social services assistance to community members seeking Angel Tree (toys for children) assistance and assistance with any other seasonal programs offered by the Corps. The incumbent will schedule appointments, interview community members, determine their eligibility, and perform accurate and complete data entry. The Seasonal Support Worker will assist with sorting, moving, accounting for, and distributing seasonal donations, as necessary. The incumbent will assist with seasonal program administrative reports and other related duties. The Seasonal Support Worker may be required to drive in support of the seasonal programs at the Corps.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Recruits, trains, coordinates, and monitors the work of volunteer bell ringers ensuring ample volunteer staff to meet location needs; prepares records and reports regarding the same.
  • Coordinate, monitor, and assist with the receipt, storage and distribution of donations for the Angel Tree program.
  • Lead seasonal warehouse staff in the proper methods and procedures for loading, unloading, and sorting donations for the Angel Tree program; assist with the distribution of gifts to families in December.
  • Provide good oral communication with clients, vendors, volunteers, staff, and management.
  • Organize daily loading, unloading and placement of donated items into the warehouse.
  • Oversee warehouse cleanliness.
  • Ensure items are efficiently stored. Follow The Salvation Army policies and procedures at all times.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Ability to meet attendance requirements.
  • Ability to perform routine mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to lift scales, boxes, hand trucks, and dollies.
  • Ability to read, write and communicate in the English language.
  • Ability to load, unload, secure and protect goods.
  • Ability to set up and break down materials at events.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment until work is relocated to The Salvation Army's Christmas warehouse.
  • The warehouse space has some minor physical discomforts associated with noise, dust and dirt.
  • The position involves moving about in the warehouse space where there are fluctuations in room temperature due to cold weather conditions and limited heat.

What We Are Looking For In You:

High school diploma or G.E.D. and two years general office and/or data entry experience in a customer service setting OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Equal Opportunity Employer: Veterans | Disabled
