Human Resources Specialist

We have an immediate opening for a knowledgeable HR Specialist to support our network of marinas across California. This remote role plays a key part in fostering a positive employee experience across multiple locations, ensuring compliance with California employment laws, and supporting the unique needs of a seasonal, hospitality-driven workforce. The ideal candidate is a detail-driven, well-organized HR professional located in Central or Southern California who brings in-depth expertise in state-specific employment laws and regulations. Essential Duties Include

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records in compliance with company policy and upload documentation into the HRIS as required.
  • Support managers and payroll to ensure accurate timecard reporting, including compliance with state‑mandated meal and rest break regulations.
  • Coordinate full‑cycle recruitment activities including job postings, applicant screening, interview scheduling, and onboarding of new hires.
  • Serve as an HR resource to management, assisting with employee documentation, benefit communications, and compliance with workplace policies.
  • Uphold strict confidentiality and ensure timely handling of workers' comp claims, unemployment responses, and other employment‑related documentation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Position Requires

  • 4 years of responsible HR Specialist or Generalist experience, preferably in a hospitality environment. Prior experience in a marina setting highly desired.
  • Extensive knowledge of California employment laws is required.
  • Demonstrated excellence in customer service and a strong commitment to teamwork.
  • Proven ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment and discretion.
  • Effective communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage positively with diverse personalities.
  • Must be detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple priorities efficiently.
  • Central or Southern California residency preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Word and Excel.

Education

Professional HR certification highly preferred (PHR, SHRM).

College degree, preferably HR focused is desired.

HS Diploma is required.
