Job Summary
The HR Specialist will partner closely with leadership to support core HR functions and foster a positive, compliant, and engaged workplace. This role touches every aspect of the employee lifecycle, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, training, benefits, payroll coordination, and compliance. The ideal candidate brings strong interpersonal skills, sound judgment, and the ability to balance administrative responsibilities with proactive people support.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and reflect company values through daily interactions and practices
- Manage full-cycle recruiting, including sourcing, screening, interviewing, and coordinating offers
- Conduct new hire onboarding and orientation
- Coordinate background checks, drug screens, and required documentation
- Assist with employee relations, coaching, and disciplinary procedures
- Maintain employee records and manage personnel changes (hires, terminations, promotions, leaves, compensation changes, etc.)
- Track and update HR data in the HRIS/ATS; ensure accuracy and confidentiality
- Support payroll processing by reviewing timekeeping records, resolving discrepancies, and assisting with data entry
- Assist with benefit administration, including open enrollment, HSA/401k transactions, and employee support
- Help coordinate learning and development initiatives, events, and employee engagement activities
- Monitor compliance with policies and employment laws
- Participate in performance review support, including 30/60/90-day check-ins
- Serve as a point of contact for employee questions, concerns, and support needs
- Identify process improvements and help streamline HR operations
- Handle additional projects and tasks as needed
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 2–3+ years of HR experience (Generalist, Specialist, or Recruiting roles)
- Experience with HRIS/payroll systems (ADP a plus)
- Strong understanding of HR policies and employment law preferred
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail and confidentiality
- Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- Motivated to learn, grow, and contribute to team success
Additional Requirements
- Ability to sit for extended periods and navigate office stairs if required
- Clear verbal and written communication skills
- Comfort handling sensitive information with integrity
