Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age and possess two years of janitorial experience within a business environment.
• Submit to a background check upon employment and annually thereafter.
• Must be of good moral character with references.
• Must have working knowledge of janitorial products and equipment.
• Must demonstrate the philosophy of The Salvation Army and work well with people.
• Must be capable of bending, stooping, stretching, lifting, climbing, and other physical actions required by the job.

Responsibilities

• Perform janitorial duties scheduled daily, weekly, and monthly by the Corps Officer, including general cleaning, floor/carpets care, sanitizing and dusting surfaces, and bathroom detailing.
• Execute detailed cleaning when required, such as shampooing carpets, stripping and waxing floors, cleaning walls, moldings, doors, etc.
• Assist the Corps Officer in maintaining a working inventory for janitorial supplies and advise on monthly orders.
• Keep supplies stocked throughout classrooms and bathrooms on work days.
• Keep the janitorial closet, washroom, washer and dryer, and storage areas clean.
• Periodically perform preventative maintenance such as replacing air filters, light fixtures, switch plate covers, etc., as needed.
• Assist with set‑up and clean‑up from meetings or special functions.
• Maintain exterior cleanup of the property as needed, including some yard maintenance.
• Coordinate cleaning schedules with all staff as approved by the Corps Officer.
• Perform any other duties assigned by Corps Officers.
