Assistant Professor of Public History and Native American History

The Department of History and Philosophy at the University of Tennessee at Martin invites applications for a full‑time tenure‑track position in the fields of Public History and Native American History. Expected start date will be August 1, 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teach upper‑division courses in Public History and Native American History, the history methods course, and lower‑division U.S. survey classes.
- Create and oversee a Public History emphasis within the history major and a public‑history internship program.
- Contribute to scholarship in the field, focusing on Native peoples of the Southeast, Great Lakes and Ohio River Valley, settler colonialism, and Black/Indigenous relations.
- Provide departmental and university service, including advising History majors.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in History (or ABD with imminent completion) required.
- Research expertise in Public History and Native American History.
