The Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for maintaining an awareness of leading-edge technology trends and automation capabilities, assisting the leadership team in developing future technology and automation roadmaps, and identifying and evaluating new manufacturing technologies to be implemented throughout the company. This role involves defining and designing tooling and fixture opportunities, maintaining open lines of communication with line and staff members to monitor and report progress of key initiatives, and presenting opportunities, analysis, observations, and recommendations to leadership. The engineer will support the integration, implementation, and shop-floor interfaces of multiple Manufacturing & Enterprise software systems, develop and validate models of the various manufacturing processes utilized to improve efficiency, and create efficient shop floor layouts based on quantifiable data with input from various stakeholders.

Essential Skills
-
3+ years of Manufacturing Engineering experience.
-
Experience in process improvements, forming equipment setup, cycle optimization, and troubleshooting defects such as web thinning, warping, and incomplete forming.

Familiarity with G-codes, 2D/3D programs, Plasma Tables, Water jets, 3-axis, Robotics, and Automation.

Proficiency in Smartsheet/Excel for data collection and quality layout review.

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering (Technology), Industrial Engineering, or Computer Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
-
Experience in a high volume production shop dealing with 1000 parts a month and various SKUs with large customers.

Strong understanding of thermoforming, vacuum forming, and compression molding processes.

Experience with forming equipment setup, cycle optimization, and troubleshooting defects.

Proficiency in process validation and tooling design for plastic components.

Working knowledge of sheet heating profiles, plug-assist design, vacuum and pressure distribution, and trimming operations.

Familiarity with material processing within compression molding environments.

Ability to develop process documentation, PFMEAs, and control plans.

Experience implementing automation and robotics in forming and molding cells.
Work Environment
The candidate will work flexible hours, with core hours from 9 AM to 5 PM. They will be provided with a company computer equipped with various necessary programs to execute their job effectively. The role involves a dynamic and collaborative environment, focusing on manufacturing processes and automation technologies.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Tomball, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
