Audiologist - Southside Physicians Network ENT & Allergy - Colonial Heights
The Audiologist at Bon Secours Mercy Health is responsible for diagnosing, treating, and managing patients with hearing, balance, and related disorders. The role includes comprehensive assessments, interventions, and counseling to improve communication and quality of life.
Essential Functions
Performs audiological assessments including pure‑tone audiometry, tympanometry, otoacoustic emissions (OAE), auditory steady‑state response (ASSR), auditory brainstem response (ABR), and balance evaluations.
Fits, programs, and maintains assistive listening devices such as hearing aids and cochlear implants; may discuss financial cost with patients.
Conducts evaluations for balance disorders and provides appropriate interventions.
Collaborates with otolaryngologists, speech‑language pathologists, and other healthcare professionals to develop comprehensive care plans.
Educates patients and families about disorders, treatment options, and coping strategies.
Maintains accurate patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations and organizational policies.
Participates in hearing screenings, educational seminars, and community events to promote hearing health awareness.
Provides additional audiology services as needed, such as auditory processing disorder rehabilitation, intra‑operative monitoring during neurosurgery and orthopedic surgery, cerumen management procedures, and Universal Newborn Hearing Screenings (UNHS).
Licensure / Certification Licensed as an audiologist in the state of practice (required). Certification by the American Speech‑Language‑Hearing Association (ASHA) or the American Board of Audiology (ABA) is preferred.
Experience Previous clinical experience in audiology is preferred.
