We have an exciting opportunity for a compassionate applicant with either a professional registration in mental health or learning disability nursing to undertake the Clinical Specialist Nurse role within the Primrose Service. This is to cover a secondment (6 months), so prison clearance is preferable, as well as current manager approval. The role involves working within a psychologically led multidisciplinary team to support women in prison with complex personality presentations linked to their risk. The post holder will work within HMP Low Newton. As a Clinical Specialist Nurse in TEWV you will manage a complex caseload independently, with a focus on both assessing and offering interventions, to women with complex personality presentations in a custodial setting. Demonstrating adherence to the Trust Values at all times is key as well as operating as a leader in the team, service and the organisation. Main duties

Leading on professional development and ensuring the delivery of robust evidence based practice. To ensure high professional standards of nursing practice in accordance with the NMC code of Conduct. To provide nurse led diagnosis and treatment planning. To undertake ongoing audit of care and service delivery, underpinned by research and evidence-based practice. To support the ward or team manager and other senior clinical staff in establishing and maintaining high standards and continual improvement within the established governance framework. To participate in clinical/professional and management supervision. To contribute to multi-disciplinary team working. To use System One electronic patient record system. To abide by all Trust policies and procedures. To be able to respond flexibly and creatively to challenges. About us

The Primrose Service is part of Health & Justice services, within HMP Low Newton, which is a treatment service for women with personality difficulties. The Service is an OPD pathway partnership between HMPPS and TEWV. The service is established at HMP & YOI Low Newton and offers 12 Primrose places, integrated within the establishment. We are an enthusiastic service that places an emphasis on staff development and reflective practice. A range of therapeutic orientations are currently represented in the team. We are searching for a committed and enthusiastic individual to join our team, to focus on bringing a nursing perspective to work alongside our existing team to deliver interventions to reduce risk and address the link between personality difficulties and risk, whilst also improving psychological wellbeing. You will assist with the team in implementing a comprehensive assessment process and a range of time limited therapeutic interventions, working within a multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for an experienced clinical specialist nurse who can work flexibly to meet service need and has the vision, energy and inspiration to develop creative, imaginative solutions to delivery within a custodial setting with women who pose a high risk to themselves and or others. Job responsibilities

The post holder will provide evidence-based nursing assessment and interventions as part of OPD pathway services. All team members must be committed to providing the best possible care for the people we work with and their families/carers. The ability to engage and communicate with women with personality difficulties as well as the parents/family/carers and system around them is essential. You must be able to demonstrate experience of delivery working with risk and personality difficulty, keenness to continually develop themselves and others, and a particular interest in this field of personality difficulty in secure settings. There are varied opportunities for training and development, with CPD needs being identified and monitored through appraisal. Person Specification

Qualifications

Current Professional Registration with Nursing and Midwifery Council - RMN / RNLD/ RGN (RNSC - CAMHS Only) Recognised Practice Assessor/Practice Supervisor or currently in progress of achieving. Trained in Clinical Supervision and providing Clinical Supervision or in the process of achieving Postgraduate diploma in a subject relevant to the area Or be willing to work towards and achieve within 2 years and Within the first year of being in post hold a recognised qualification in a governed therapy/advanced clinical qualification e.g Intermediate Systemic Family Therapy/Post Grad diploma in CBT/British Isles Dialectical Behaviour Therapy /NMP (Independent Prescriber) And have Equivalent clinical experience to that of a Post Grad Diploma/master's level such as working as a band 6 (or above) in relevant clinical area with significant experience (see below under experience), together with evidence of relevant CPD Knowledge

Extensive knowledge of current issues relating to health needs of patients in the field of practice, regionally and nationally Understanding and working knowledge of the legal framework and statutory obligations under the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act Detailed understanding of Safeguarding and its application in practice Clinical Risk Assessment and Management and its application in practice. Clinical Governance and its application in practice. Working knowledge of clinical medicines management Understanding of psychological models of care and treatment (depending on specialist area) Experience

Significant experience working with patients with complex needs in the specialist field Significant experience working with patients who display risk behaviours Clinical risk assessment and management and its application in practice Working collaboratively with service users their families and carers Working in a multi-disciplinary team Quality improvement activities Disclosure and Barring Service Check
