Bilingual Human Resources Generalist

Job Description We are seeking an experienced HR Generalist to join our team in a dynamic lighting manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be bilingual in English and Spanish, have hands‑on experience with weekly payroll processing, and possess a solid background working with unionized employees. This role requires a proactive professional who can manage day‑to‑day HR operations while supporting strategic initiatives.
Responsibilities
Process weekly payroll accurately and on time for all employees, including union staff.
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage laws and maintain payroll records, resolving discrepancies promptly.
Serve as a primary point of contact for union employees, addressing inquiries and ensuring adherence to collective bargaining agreements.
Assist in grievance handling and support labor negotiations as needed.
Foster positive employee relations and maintain a respectful workplace culture.
Administer HR policies and procedures, ensuring compliance with employment laws and company standards.
Manage onboarding and offboarding processes, including new hire orientation and exit interviews.
Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems.
Support recruitment efforts for hourly and salaried positions, including job postings, screening, and interviewing.
Assist with performance management processes and employee development initiatives.
Coordinate benefits enrollment and respond to employee inquiries regarding health, dental, and retirement plans.
Ensure compliance with OSHA, FMLA, and other regulatory requirements.
Essential Skills
3+ years of HR experience.
Bachelor's Degree.
Bilingual in Spanish and English.
Experience with payroll processing.
Experience with unionized employees.
Knowledge of HR policies and employment laws.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
SHRM certification.
Experience with HRIS systems.
Strong employee relations skills.
Work Environment The role operates in an office environment with working hours from Monday to Friday, 8 am to 5 pm. The work culture encourages growth and taking on more responsibilities, with a supportive team that includes tenured staff, some with over 40 years of experience. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Stony Point, NY.
Pay And Benefits The pay range for this position is $31.25–$38.46 /hr.
