Why VEIR VEIR is enabling a new generation of compact, efficient, high‑power, and long‑distance power delivery solutions, solving bottlenecks that exist across the entire electricity value chain, from generation through to data center server racks. VEIR's low voltage superconducting solutions are enabling new power delivery architectures in the world’s largest data centers and our higher voltage solutions are poised to revolutionize the development of electricity transmission and distribution lines. VEIR is preparing for rapid growth as we seek to solve critical challenges facing data center developers, electricity generation developers, and utilities around the world.
The Role VEIR is seeking an
HTS Test Engineer
to play a key role in the development and validation of our high‑temperature superconducting (HTS) cable technology. In this role, you will support the design and execution of laboratory test campaigns that ensure the performance, reliability, and scalability of VEIR’s superconducting cables. You’ll work hands‑on with advanced electrical and cryogenic systems, contribute to testing methodologies, and translate results into insights that directly inform cable design improvements.
This is an opportunity to grow into a technical owner of VEIR’s HTS test campaigns and make a measurable impact on the future of energy transmission. This is an entry‑level position.
In Your First 3‑6 months you will
Develop a strong understanding of VEIR’s use of HTS in cable development.
Learn DC/IC and AC loss testing methodologies for cable designs.
Get up to speed with VEIR’s LabVIEW code base and test measurement instrumentation.
Execute test procedures with guidance, while learning how to recognize when tests are running successfully versus when issues need troubleshooting.
Grow technical skills in instrumentation, coding, and data analytics while building familiarity with VEIR’s test environment.
By the end of the first year you will have
Independently own and operate test campaigns from setup through reporting.
Adapt and pivot test campaigns based on interim results to accelerate learning.
Deliver clear reports and recommendations that influence cable design decisions.
Surface opportunities for design improvements through test analysis and collaboration with engineering teams.
To be successful in this role
Bachelor's degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (electrical engineering preferred).
Understanding of DC/AC test methodologies.
Experience using LabVIEW with oscilloscopes, digital multimeters, and other electronic measurement systems.
Ability to conduct repeatable test campaigns and deliver accurate reports to engineering teams.
Skilled in analyzing test data, with the ability to recommend design improvements.
Basic soldering experience.
Python coding, data analytics, and scientific modeling experience (preferred).
Strong problem‑solving mindset with curiosity to understand how systems behave and why tests succeed or fail.
Effective communicator able to summarize complex findings for technical audiences.
Highly motivated, energetic, mature, and detail‑oriented with a positive approach to problem solving.
You are committed to VEIR’s mission, goals, and core values.
