Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant supports the accounting and financial operations for Geonerco and its managed entities, including homebuilding, real estate development, and other related companies. This position is ideal for an early-career accounting professional who wants hands‑on experience across multiple areas of corporate and project accounting.
This role involves a variety of responsibilities, such as reconciliations, journal entries, cash management, purchasing activities, financial statements, and loan draw preparation. The position offers the opportunity to learn the full accounting cycle, with an emphasis on ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
This individual will be joining a well‑established finance team that is modernizing processes through automation, system integration, and proactive collaboration with operational teams.
Responsibilities: Accounting & Financial Operations
Prepare journal entries, monthly financial statements, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules
Assist production with purchasing activities by processing and reviewing budgets, bids, and purchase orders
Ensure compliance with company policies, GAAP, and lender requirements
Process Improvement & Collaboration
Partner with Development Teams and Project Managers to streamline accounting and billing workflows
Identify opportunities to automate manual accounting tasks through improved software use or integration
Maintain open communication with development and production teams to ensure project costs and billing approvals are timely and accurate
Recommend system enhancements to improve reporting and efficiency
Reporting & Analysis
Prepare internal reports for project performance, budget‑to‑actual comparisons, and loan utilization
Provide accounting insights to support leadership decision‑making
Qualifications: Required
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
1-3+ years of experience in accounting, preferably in construction, real estate development, or related industries
Strong understanding of GAAP and project‑based accounting
Experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and reconciliations
High proficiency with Excel and accounting software (e.g., Sage Intacct, QuickBooks Enterprise, Microsoft Dynamics 365 or similar)
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
Preferred
Experience with construction or property management systems (e.g., WMS, Procore, Viewpoint, or similar)
Familiarity with A&D lending and draw processes
Demonstrated ability to improve or automate accounting workflows

Dependable and self‑motivated, able to manage recurring tasks and special projects with minimal supervision
