Senior Insurance Defense Trial Attorney - Northern CA

We are seeking an experienced Trial Attorney to join our Northern California team in a fully virtual role with occasional in‑person appearances.
Job Summary This position is responsible for representing Farmers’ insurance clients in all areas of insurance defense practice, handling cases that are moderate to high complexity and exposure, and managing all phases of cases from intake to resolution.
Essential Job Functions
Litigate moderate to high complexity insurance defense cases from intake to trial or settlement, preparing pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
Act as the lead attorney at hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials.
Develop strategies and arguments to thoroughly prepare for trial and analyze probable outcomes using legal precedents.
Consult with Claims Executive team and provide legal strategy recommendations for personal injury claims.
Provide guidance to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
Functionally supervise and mentor attorneys assisting in case development.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and licensed to practice law in California (or applicable states) upon hire.
Seven years of litigation experience with emphasis on insurance defense, personal injury, or jury trial.
First and second chair trial experience in bodily injury litigation preferred; multistate jurisdictional practice preferred.
Public speaking, high case‑load handling, and strong written and verbal communication skills.
Effective leadership, problem‑solving, judgment, and decision‑making skills.
Ability to work within tight timeframes, meet strict deadlines, and manage priorities.
