Base Pay Range $150,000.00/yr - $175,000.00/yr
The Director of Business Development is a strategic sales leader responsible for accelerating revenue growth, expanding market share, and cultivating long-term client partnerships. This role drives the business development function by setting bold targets, leading a high-performing team, and building strategies that deliver measurable results. The Director will identify and secure new business opportunities, optimize client retention, and provide executive-level reporting on performance. This is a remote position based in California, requiring significant travel.
Responsibilities
Lead business development and sales operations to achieve or exceed revenue and growth targets.
Develop and execute strategies that drive measurable outcomes such as increased client acquisition, market expansion, and profitability.
Build, manage, and strengthen a robust client portfolio, ensuring high retention and satisfaction rates.
Establish and maintain senior-level relationships with key clients, partners, and industry influencers.
Collaborate with executive leadership to design long-term growth strategies that align with company objectives.
Monitor pipelines, forecasts, and KPIs, ensuring accurate reporting and actionable insights for leadership.
Represent the organization at conferences, trade shows, and client meetings to drive visibility and business opportunities.
Perform additional duties as assigned by the COO.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and manage Business Development Managers, ensuring individual and team sales goals are consistently met or exceeded.
Partner with HR to attract, hire, and onboard top-performing sales professionals.
Set clear performance expectations aligned with company strategy, driving accountability and results.
Provide coaching, recognition, and career development opportunities to foster a culture of growth and excellence.
Conduct structured performance reviews with focus on KPIs, results, and professional development.
Required Skills and Qualifications
Proven track record of achieving or surpassing sales quotas, revenue growth, and market share objectives.
Exceptional communication and presentation skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
Advanced negotiation, closing, and contract management expertise.
Strong business acumen with the ability to translate market insights into actionable strategies.
Demonstrated leadership skills with success in coaching and scaling sales teams.
Ability to recruit, motivate, and retain high-performing sales professionals.
Proficiency in pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM systems.
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field.
Minimum 5 years of progressive sales leadership experience, including at least 3 years managing and developing teams.
History of delivering measurable results such as revenue growth, client expansion, and improved sales performance.
Sales certifications or advanced training preferred.
