Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
The Facility Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the hospital’s senior leadership team and partners closely with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to drive the facility’s financial and operational success.
The CFO is responsible for all aspects of financial management including accounting, budgeting, auditing, revenue cycle management, and reporting in accordance with our corporate policies and standards.
This position requires a hands‑on financial leader who can deliver accurate financial reporting, maintain strong internal controls, drive revenue cycle efficiency, and support strategic business decisions across clinical and administrative departments.

Reports To:

Ideal Candidate:
For‑profit behavioral health experience highly preferred with inpatient beds.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee monthly financial statements, ensuring accuracy and timely submission.
Ensure balance sheet reconciliations comply with Acadia’s standards and that variances are corrected promptly.
Prepare and submit Monthly Operating Reports, Certifications, Corporate Disclosures, and Forecasts.
Maintain internal controls to ensure clean audits with no material adjustments or deficiencies.
Lead the Revenue Cycle operations to optimize cash collection, minimize bad debt, and improve AR performance.
Ensure 100% insurance verification and financial counseling accuracy for all patients.
Maintain working knowledge of federal, state, and managed care reimbursement methodologies.
Supervise Accounting, Patient Accounting, HIM, and Materials Management teams, ensuring proper staffing and training.
Monitor purchasing compliance with Group Purchasing contracts to control supply costs.
Develop, present, and monitor annual operating and capital budgets; perform variance analysis and corrective actions as needed.
Provide financial leadership and training to department managers to ensure budget adherence.
Conduct financial feasibility studies and pro‑formas for new services or capital projects.
Partner with the CEO in strategic and operational planning, including staffing productivity goals.
Support managed care contracting and business development to maximize net revenue.
Stay abreast of healthcare finance trends, policies, and compliance standards to ensure the facility’s readiness and compliance.
Lead with ethics, integrity, and a high degree of emotional intelligence, building trust among peers and subordinates.
Education Requirements
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration.
Preferred: Master’s degree (MBA, MHA, or related field).
Experience Requirements
Minimum: 3 years of successful CFO experience in a healthcare setting or completion of Acadia’s CFO‑in‑Training Program.
Preferred:
Behavioral health or psychiatric hospital experience.
For‑profit healthcare system experience.
Prior leadership overseeing multi‑departmental financial operations.
Licenses / Certifications
CPA
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
