Position Summary
The Director of Academic Advising provides leadership, management, and oversight of the Department of Academic Advising. This role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and assessing all academic advising services to support student success and timely degree completion. The Director ensures advising practices align with institutional goals, national best practices, and accreditation standards, while collaborating with faculty, Deans, and other academic units. Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
Lead and manage the Department of Academic Advising, ensuring the consistent delivery of high-quality advising services. Develop and implement advising policies, procedures, and strategies that promote persistence, retention, and on-time graduation. Monitor and analyze student progression metrics, including persistence and graduation rates. Supervise professional academic advisors and support staff, fostering collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide training and professional development for advising personnel. Establish and implement assessment processes to evaluate advising effectiveness, student satisfaction, and learning outcomes; apply findings for improvement. Collaborate with Deans, program directors, and faculty to ensure coordinated advising across academic programs. Manage departmental budgets and resources responsibly and efficiently. Maintain current knowledge of national advising standards, technologies, and innovations in higher education. Represent the Office of Student Success on committees and initiatives related to student achievement. Other duties may be assigned. Supervision Received
Supervises professional academic advisors, graduate assistants, and support staff within the Department of Academic Advising. Performs other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Student Success and Career Services and / or Vice President of Student Success. Supervision Exercised

Position Qualifications / Specifications
Master's Degree from a regionally accredited institution. Strong knowledge of advising principles, student development theory, and higher education practices. Preferred Qualifications / Specifications
Knowledge of student services operations, principles and functions. In-depth knowledge of procedures / policies / mandates / regulations in student counseling, advisement and career planning. Ability to write and speak effectively and make presentations. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Demonstrate ability to work in a team. Supervisory and leadership skills. Proficiency with office technology.
