Purpose Statement Consultant, Risk Services – WCT/UP is responsible for developing, providing education and technical assistance, and implementing safety, health, and risk control programs; investigating serious incidents, accidents, hazards, and environmental conditions; and providing risk control services to member school districts.
This position reports to Senior Risk Consultant. Job remains open until filled; please submit application before the best consideration date of 7/13/2025.
Essential Functions
Conduct risk assessments of school district facilities and investigate incidents to identify safety risks and recommend mitigation.
Create risk reduction plans with districts to enhance understanding of risk factors, proactive identification, and risk exposure reduction.
Develop and deliver risk reduction training programs (injury prevention, hearing protection, workplace ergonomics, indoor air quality, science laboratory safety, hazardous materials management, personal protective equipment management, confined space entry, fire safety and prevention, spill prevention and response, asbestos management, etc.) to enhance member understanding, identification, and mitigation of risk factors.
Embodies the principles and practices that form our culture and commitment to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization.
Maintain a variety of manual and electronic documents, files, and records to comply with state and/or federal requirements and to document recommendations and actions.
Participate in meetings, workshops, and conferences for professional development and to share information related to health, safety, and environmental issues.
Perform risk control activities (e.g., risk assessment surveys, site inspections, loss trending analysis) to identify risks and develop reduction plans.
Compile health, safety and environmental statistics and data to ensure compliance and meet reporting requirements.
Prepare written materials (newsletters, articles, manuals, reports, statistical analyses, recommendations, procedures, presentations) to report district risk data and implement risk reduction strategies.
Provide risk management advice and recommendations (e.g., review of incidents and injury trends, site evaluations) for timely injury and incident reduction.
Research federal and state laws, building codes, health codes, and other regulations to ensure compliance with regulations, standards, and reduce incidents/accidents.
Utilize fleet vehicles as necessary.
Other Functions
Assist other personnel as required to ensure an efficient and effective work environment.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Business, Risk Management, or related field; or an Associate’s degree and 3+ years of progressively responsible experience; or a high school diploma/GED and 6+ years of progressively responsible experience.
Experience providing safety and loss control services.
Experience building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and business clients within a risk/carrier environment and/or business setting.
Possess a valid driver’s license & evidence of insurability.
Preferred Qualifications
Knowledge of Washington State workers’ compensation risk management best practices.
Experience persuading and influencing adoption of workplace risk management best practices.Experience managing school district staff injury prevention initiatives.
Experience fulfilling client stewardship activities.
Safety/risk management-related designation (CSP, ALCM, ARM, CSRM, etc.).
