Position Overview
This position’s primary responsibility is to oversee the accelerated underwriting (AUW) mortality slippage process within the Underwriting Risk Assessment and Research (URAR) team to monitor mortality risk in our reinsured AUW business and support pricing with AUW assumption setting. The role also involves special projects on mortality impacts of underwriting changes and contributes to underwriting research and thought leadership initiatives. Your Role
Lead the AUW U.S. client monitoring analyses, oversee a junior team member on the mortality slippage process, and communicate results to key internal stakeholders. Collaborate with Underwriting, Pricing, and Integrated Analytics to support development and effective monitoring of clients’ AUW programs. Manage continued development of an AUW client mortality monitoring database to aggregate industry insights. Support research of key trends in U.S. underwriting programs through client survey analysis, validation of new underwriting tools/data sources, and retro studies. Assist with the development of marketing materials (presentations, white papers, survey reports) promoting Munich Re’s expertise in innovative underwriting topics. Your Profile
Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial Science or Mathematics ASA designation and progression toward FSA 3+ years of actuarial experience in the life insurance industry Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word and Excel) with skills in VBA, PowerPoint, Access, SQL, and Power BI as an asset Able to manage multiple diverse projects High degree of independence and prioritization Well‑developed organization skills, with ability to analyze and improve current processes Excellent analytical and abstract reasoning skills Excellent written and verbal communication skills; effective at documenting and communicating analysis, findings and conclusions Ability to mentor junior staff and review their work Works effectively and collaboratively on cross‑functional teams within the company to achieve results About Munich Re
