Job Summary Ventus Solutions is seeking a skilled Joint Operations Planner – Air Domain to provide mission engineering, operational analysis and integration expertise to help shape the future of joint warfighting. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting Planning, Programming, and Budgeting Execution (PPBE) decisions and informing Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS) prioritization to accelerate modernization across the joint force. You will focus on Air Force Presentation, integrated fires, and Joint All‑Domain Command and Control (JADC2) concepts aligned with future Joint Warfighting Concepts. This is an opportunity to directly influence how the Department of Defense aligns technology, capability, and force design to maintain decision advantage and air dominance in complex mission environments.

Work Location Onsite: Alexandria, VA.

Required Experience

7 years of experience in operations research, mission engineering, systems engineering, or operational analysis supporting defense or military operations.

5 years developing or evaluating mission plans, operational plans (OPLANs), CONOPs, and CONEMPs for defense systems or joint operations.

3 years of experience collaborating with diverse teams—including engineers, planners, and technologists—across the Joint Staff, Combatant Commands, Military Services, or OSD.

3 years working knowledge of modeling, simulation, and analysis (MS&A) techniques to assess system performance or mission design.

2 years of experience supporting joint operations, combat systems, R&D, S&T, or mission planning within the DoD or defense sector.

Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills, with the ability to synthesize complex operational data.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with demonstrated success in cross‑functional and cross‑organizational collaboration.

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Computer Science, Management Science, Physics, or a related field.

U.S. Citizen with active Top Secret Clearance with SCI Eligibility.

Desired Experience

Air Force Planning Expertise: 3+ years supporting Air Force or Joint Planning Staffs (AF/A5, MAJCOM A3/A5, PACAF, AFCENT, USAFE) with proven success integrating Air Force capabilities into joint operations.

Demonstrated experience developing Concepts of Operations (CONOPS), Concepts of Employment (CONEMPs), or Intelligence Threat Briefs.

Deep understanding of Air Superiority doctrine, Integrated Fires, and Advanced Fighter/Bomber Force Design, with background in one or more of the following: aviation operations, TACP, cyber/electronic warfare, or logistics.

Hands‑on experience with Air Tasking Orders (ATO), Force Presentation, or Air Operations Center (AOC) operations.

Familiarity with Model‑Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) or simulation tools applied to platform survivability, IADS, or long‑range strike effects.

Experience supporting Combatant Command or Joint Staff J5/J3 planning (contingency or campaign‑level).

Experience leading Operational Planning Teams (OPTs) or major staff exercises incorporating air power components.

Knowledge of Joint Strategic Campaign Plan (JSCP) or Global Force Management Allocation Plan (GFMAP) processes.

Graduate of an Advanced Warfare Planning School such as SAASS, SAMS, SAW, JAWS, or MAWS.
