Staff Engineer - BMC ITSM Helix/Remedy (Hybrid) at GEICO
Base Pay Range $105,000 - $230,000 per year
Position Responsibilities
Collaborate closely with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to tackle complex challenges.
Develop and execute the technical software development strategy for the BMC ITSM Helix platform, new integrations, new forms, and overall operational efficiency.
Build and refine self‑service features that empower application teams or business processes.
Be accountable for quality, usability, and performance of solutions developed on the ITSM platform.
Consistently share best practices and improve processes within your team and across engineering groups.
Act as an advocate and subject matter expert (SME) for the BMC Helix ITSM platform.
Help the organization fulfill key objectives including expanding automation and process improvements to deliver faster and improve overall quality on deliverables.
Write and maintain functional and technical specifications.
Qualifications
Proven experience on enterprise platforms similar to ServiceNow or BMC ITSM Helix/Remedy.
Strong knowledge of service management.
Knowledge of cloud computing technologies and concepts (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS, etc.).
Strong knowledge of JavaScript.
Proven ability to learn technical concepts and adapt to new technologies quickly.
Proficiency with project management and work item management tools such as GitHub and Azure DevOps.
Strong foundation in algorithms, data structures, and core computer science concepts.
Fluency with RESTful Web Services and event‑driven architectures.
Experience
6+ years coding experience.
6+ years development on an ITSM platform like BMC ITSM Helix.
6+ years technical leadership on a platform like BMC ITSM Helix or similar.
6+ years coding/working with REST API integrations and CMDB.
4+ years Standardize Reporting experience.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Education
Bachelor's degree in information technology or related field, or equivalent work experience.
