Position Overview Northrop Grumman Space Systems—Launch and Missile Defense Systems offers an excellent opportunity for a Sr Principal Engineer Systems Architect – MBSE Modeler (25-459) to join our team of skilled and diverse professionals. Based in Huntsville, AL, this role is key in supporting the U.S. President, the Secretary of Defense, and combatant commanders at strategic, regional, and operational levels. This position does not provide relocation assistance and requires on-site work with no remote options.
Essential Functions
Support the development of architecture models, manage model configuration, and serve as a key contact for integration with other modeling teams and environments outside of C2BMC (e.g., models provided or developed by other missile defense partner organizations)
Mentor junior systems engineering team members to enhance their skills within the department
Work directed by the Digital Engineering Team (DET) Lead and DET Architecture Model Lead
Coordinate with other technical leads, product owners, C2BMC management, and government customers to ensure high-quality products are delivered on time and within resource limits
Review technical content and serve as a technical liaison with MDA counterparts as necessary
Actively participate in Agile development activities, such as iteration planning and status updates
Have at least 4 years of experience building digital architecture models
Have experience connecting architecture models with DOORS-managed requirements
Proven experience in developing and adjusting all viewpoints within the DoDAF 2.0 modeling framework
Basic Qualifications
A Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM field such as Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or a related area from an accredited university is preferred, along with 8 years of experience; or a Master’s degree (preferred) in a STEM-related field with 6 years of relevant work experience; or a PhD in a related field with 4 years of relevant work experience
Applicants must have a current, active in-scope DoD-issued Secret security clearance at the time of application, which is required to start
Experience as an architecture model developer creating model artifacts aligned with SysMOD and OOSEM methodologies
Developing modeling using the Department of Defense Architecture Framework (DoDAF 2.0) modeling framework within the CAMEO development environment
Proficient understanding of MBSE standards to guide model development
Working knowledge of Dynamic Object-Oriented Requirements (DOORS) for requirement management and experience linking requirements to the architecture model
Deliver data products from a modeling platform using tools such as Collaborator, VTL Scripts, Webify, Tom Sawyer, and other similar tools
Must have demonstrated working knowledge of product development within a secure environment, following the Security Classification Guideline (SCG)
Preferred Qualifications
Master's Degree in Systems Engineering
Certification: INCOSE Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP) Certification
Certification: Object Management Group Certified Systems
Modeling Professional - Model Builder Fundamental (OCSMP - MBF).
Prefer experience with the CAMEO development environment using the DoDAF 2.0 modeling framework.
Experience integrating Dynamic Object Oriented Requirements (DOORS) and CAMEO through TWC Datahub is strongly preferred.
Must have a solid understanding of general systems engineering practices and tools such as Agile using Atlassian JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint. Knowledge of or ability to administer these tools is preferred.
Custom plug-ins and other modeling tool customizations are highly preferred.

Primary Level Salary Range: $131,100.00 - $196,700.00
The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
