Mossville, IL (Tech Center Building K) . This is a long-term position that can lead to permanent employment with our client. Compensation is

Job Summary We are seeking a
Development and Research Engineer
to support mechanical and material performance testing for components used in large-scale industrial applications. This position focuses on leading and executing fatigue and fracture testing, designing test fixtures, and analyzing mechanical properties to understand component behavior under stress. The engineer will collaborate with technicians and engineers to develop test procedures, collect and interpret test data, and provide high-quality technical reports that drive design and reliability improvements across multiple product teams.
Key Responsibilities
Lead projects to deliver fatigue and fracture performance results for mechanical components and materials.
Design and develop test setups, fixtures, and instrumentation plans to validate performance under real-world conditions.
Coordinate and perform fatigue and failure testing, including strain gauging and data validation.
Analyze mechanical test data and apply statistical methods to evaluate results and determine root causes.
Prepare detailed technical reports summarizing results, findings, and recommendations.
Collaborate with internal clients and technicians to define test objectives, timelines, and deliverables.
Ensure compliance with established test protocols and maintain a strong focus on safety in the lab environment.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in
Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science , or a related engineering field.
2–4 years of experience in mechanical testing, fatigue analysis, or research engineering.
General knowledge of
fatigue and fracture mechanics ,
mechanics of materials , and
stress‑strain behavior .
Proficiency with
instrumentation tools
such as strain gauges, load cells, and LVDTs.
Experience in
data analysis , including statistical interpretation of test results.
Strong technical writing and documentation skills.
Ability to work collaboratively across engineering and technical teams and lead projects with minimal supervision.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with
hydraulic test equipment
or servo‑hydraulic‑based fatigue systems (MTS or similar).
Knowledge of
material microstructures
and their effects on component performance.
Familiarity with
machining processes
and fixture design.
Experience with
Creo
or other CAD tools (less than 10% of role).
Familiarity with
project planning software
such as Microsoft Project.
Hands‑on laboratory testing experience is highly preferred.
