Job Summary We are seeking a technically skilled and customer-focused IT Sales Engineer to support our sales team in identifying client needs, proposing tailored IT solutions, and closing managed services and project-based sales. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between the technical and sales teams, ensuring client needs are fully understood and met with the right solutions.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with account executives to understand client requirements and deliver tailored solutions in pre-sales engagements.
Conduct technical discovery calls and onsite/virtual assessments of prospective clients’ IT environments.
Design and present comprehensive IT solutions, including managed services, cybersecurity offerings, cloud platforms, BDR strategies and infrastructure upgrades.
Prepare and deliver technical proposals, diagrams and presentations to explain our company's products or services to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Translate business requirements into technical specifications and work with engineering teams to scope and price service offerings.
Stay current with industry trends, emerging technologies, and vendor offerings relevant to our MSP services.
Support RFP/RFI responses with detailed technical input.
Assist in transitioning clients from pre-sales to onboarding, ensuring a smooth handoff to the service delivery team.
Provide technical support during the sales cycle to remove obstacles to deal closure.
Researching, developing, and modifying products to meet customers' technical requirements and needs.
Soliciting and logging client feedback and evaluating the data to create new sales and marketing strategies to target customers.
Identifying areas for improvement and communicating these issues as well as possible solutions to upper management.
Setting and achieving sales goals and quotas.
Training other members of the sales team on the technical aspects of the company's products and services.
Desired Skills Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business Technology, related field of study, or equivalent work experience.

Microsoft Exchange On-Premise and Online, SQL
DNS, DHCP, and Remote Desktop Services o VMWare, Hyper‑V and other virtualization technologies
Storage solutions: SAN, NAS, Shared storage, iSCSI, Fiber Channel
Firewalls, switches, and other networking technologies
Cisco Meraki, Fortinet, Cisco Catalyst/Small Business, Ubiquiti, and other technologies
Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery solutions and backup technologies
Excellent knowledge of our supported software and technologies
BDR Solutions
Proficiency in using industry standard tools required for the role; specifically, ConnectWise RMM, ConnectWise PSA, and ConnectWise CPQ
Tier 3 Advanced Support Skills
Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, including networking, servers, virtualization, cloud (especially Microsoft 365 & Azure), firewalls, and backup solutions.
Familiarity with cybersecurity best practices and tools (e.g., EDR, MFA, security audits). Experience designing MSP services and IT project solutions for SMB clients.
Experience
3+ years of experience in a Sales Engineer, Solutions Architect, or Technical Pre Sales role, preferably within an MSP or IT services firm.
Strong presentation and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Network or Systems engineer field experience is a plus.
