Adult Outpatient Pavilion (AOP). The Department of Radiation Oncology at VCU Health System has an immediate opening for a therapeutic medical physicist (TMP). The successful candidate will provide clinical radiation therapy services using state‑of‑the‑art radiotherapy including IMRT, VMAT, SBRT, SRS, IGRT, LDR and HDR brachytherapy programs.

Mission or Goal of Unit VCU Massey Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Department of Radiation Oncology is a highly integrated department. Our faculty are committed to providing exceptional patient care, conducting leading‑edge research, and educating emerging radiation oncologists, medical physicists, and dosimetrists. The Medical Physics division provides exemplary radiation therapy, implementation of improved treatment planning, research programs, and clinical trials.

Position Responsibilities

Teaching: Participate in teaching radiation oncology residents, medical physics residents, and graduate students.

Research: Participate in clinically‑oriented research.

Service: Serve on departmental, School of Medicine, and university committees; professional activities such as reviewer, conference organizer.

Administrative: Devote a percentage of time to academic service activities and other assignments.

Minimum Qualifications

M.S. or PhD in medical physics, physics, engineering, or a closely related physical science discipline.

ABR Board certification eligibility in radiation oncology physics.

Demonstrated experience in IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, SRS, and LDR and HDR brachytherapy.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong technical skills.

Experience in regulatory procedures.

Rank will be Instructor or Assistant/Associate Professor depending on qualifications, with salary commensurate to experience.

Preferred Qualifications

At least three years of clinical experience.

ABR board certification.
