Overview
The Credit Officer (CO) is the primary Credit Approver for business and consumer loans for the bank. The CO exercises this authority within approval limits as delegated by senior management. This position helps manage credit projects and identify process improvements and efficiencies.
Principal Accountabilities
50% Ensures requests are underwritten soundly, in conformity with Fidelity Bank's Credit Policy and Procedures.
10% Ensures risk and mitigants are clearly discussed and policy exceptions are described, supported, and reported.
25% Approves or denies requests within delegated authority.
7% Recommends approval or denial of credit requests exceeding authority.
1% Communicates crisply and timely to parties affected by the decision.
1% Ensures accurate and proper loan file documentation.
1% Works effectively and cooperatively with Business Development Officers, Analysts, Credit Risk Review Officers, and other team members in achieving goals.
1% Demonstrates teamwork and facilitates communication and workflow, including creative and pragmatic solutions to credit challenges.
1% Advises credit and loan staff on the impact of bank credit policy and portfolio trends, current relationships and requests pending from prospects.
1% Answers any questions of loan documentation staff as to appropriate documentation, covenants, etc. for approved requests.
1% Provides support to Business Development Officers in all areas of credit, including assisting with loan applications, explaining lending credentials, and all other processes surrounding lending.
1% Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree with 7 years of experience in commercial and consumer lending or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications
Demonstrated ability to underwrite complex commercial loans and make sound loan approval decisions of up to $500,000.
Expertise in loan underwriting, portfolio management, written/oral communication skills, and management experience.
Excellent computer skills including experience with spreadsheet analysis and Microsoft Office.
Excellent leadership skills.
Ability to work well in a teamwork environment.
Strong attention to detail and analytical ability.
