Lab Test, Evaluation & Maintenance Engineer General Atomics (GA) and its affiliated companies are leaders in high‑technology systems development ranging from the nuclear fuel cycle to remotely piloted aircraft, airborne sensors, and advanced electric, electronic, wireless and laser technologies.

We are seeking a Laboratory Test, Evaluation, and Maintenance Electrical Engineer to join the GA‑EMS Radar Technologies team. As a key member of this team, the Engineer will lead electrical evaluation, testing, and test equipment maintenance efforts to support the development of new air and ground‑based designs. The Electrical Engineer reports directly to the Manager of Hardware Engineering within the Radar Technologies group.

Duties & Responsibilities

Develop detailed test plans and procedures for electrical systems and components.

Conduct tests on electrical components, prototypes, systems, and devices to validate performance, reliability, and compliance with specifications.

Design and assemble test setups, including wiring, cabling, instrumentation, and fixturing.

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues with electrical components and assemblies during testing.

Use standard lab equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power meters.

Post‑process collected test data to analyze electrical performance metrics such as voltage, current, power, phase, signal integrity, etc.

Prepare detailed test reports and documentation for stakeholders; present test results to engineers, management, and customers.

Oversee lab equipment maintenance, record calibration schedules, and coordinate with the GA calibration team to ensure timely calibration.

Identify and implement ways to improve testing workflows and methodologies for efficiency and accuracy.

Provide insights and recommendations based on test results to improve designs.

Ensure tests comply with industry standards (e.g., IEEE, IEC) and government regulations.

Stay informed about advancements in electrical testing methodologies and equipment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical discipline (or higher). Required experience: six or more years with a bachelor's degree, four or more years with a master's, or two or more years with a PhD. Equivalent engineering experience may substitute for education.

Detailed technical expertise and application of engineering principles with ability to plan and coordinate projects to meet deadlines.

Strong understanding of electrical circuits, components, and systems, including analog, digital, RF, and mixed‑signal designs.

Proficiency in using electrical test equipment such as oscilloscopes, multimeters, signal generators, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and logic analyzers.

Basic soldering techniques, including through‑hole and surface‑mount component soldering.

Ability to collaborate with design teams to develop test plans and procedures for new products.

Ability to design, execute, and document electrical tests for components, subsystems, and systems.

Skilled in troubleshooting and diagnosing electrical issues and implementing corrective actions.

Familiarity with ESD precautions and safe handling of sensitive components.

Ability to analyze test data and generate detailed reports to communicate findings and recommendations.

Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to interface with other departments, customers, government representatives, and professionals.

Customer‑focused and able to work independently or in a team environment.

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Desired Skills & Experience

Experience with automated test systems and software tools (e.g., LabVIEW, MATLAB, Python).

Previous experience working with the Department of Defense.

Active security clearance.

Full‑Time.

Salary range:

$98,100 – $171,398.
