Optomi
Optomi, in partnership with an industry leading client of ours, are in search for a Senior Network Engineer to support and enhance its complex network infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing Juniper-based switching and routing (VXLAN topology), Mist wireless networks, and Fortinet firewall systems. The environment is expanding into SD‑WAN and AWS cloud networking, so experience in these areas is highly desirable.
This role is part of a managed services team providing dedicated technical expertise across data center, network, wireless, firewall, and application delivery domains. The Senior Network Engineer will serve as a subject matter expert, supporting operations, leading escalations, and mentoring other engineers. The position involves both on‑site and remote work at an Atlanta-area campus; candidates must reside within a commutable distance.

Support and manage enterprise‑scale Juniper routing and switching infrastructure, including VXLAN topologies.
Administer and troubleshoot Fortinet firewalls and related security technologies (VPNs, IPSEC, SD‑WAN).
Maintain and optimize Mist wireless infrastructure and associated management tools.
Assist with SD‑WAN deployment, cloud network integrations, and AWS‑based services.
Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors supporting services such as VoIP, A/V, and IoT devices operating on the network.
Perform network design, implementation, maintenance, and troubleshooting across multi‑protocol environments.
Create and maintain technical documentation, Visio diagrams, and configuration standards.
Conduct performance assessments, capacity planning, and network optimizations.
Utilize packet tracing tools, NetFlow, and SNMP‑based monitoring to resolve complex issues.
Provide mentorship, escalation support, and training to junior engineers.
Participate in infrastructure assessments and migration projects.
Qualifications:
5+ years of hands‑on experience as a Network Engineer in enterprise environments.
Familiarity with cloud services and integrations (AWS preferred; Azure a plus).
Strong knowledge of VLAN, VXLAN, STP, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, MPLS, and route redistribution.
Proficient in network services such as NAT, DNS, HTTP, SSH, and HSRP.
Skilled in packet analysis, network security principles, and firewall management.
Working knowledge of VoIP systems and troubleshooting methodologies.
Excellent documentation, communication, and team collaboration skills.
Certifications preferred: JNCIS-ENT, JNCIS-Mist, or equivalent Juniper certifications; Fortinet NSE 4–7 or equivalent.
Nice to Have:
Experience with automation or scripting for network operations.
Exposure to application delivery platforms, WAN optimization, and load balancing technologies.
