Senior Structural Engineer Position Overview We are adding Mid and Senior Structural Engineers to our growing Kiewit Industrial team to support a variety of projects across North America. We have a strong backlog and our business continues to grow in the Data Center and Water/Wastewater markets. We are looking for a strong structural design professional, well‑versed in concrete and structural design, with experience designing building structures, equipment foundations, access platforms, piping, pipe‑racks, building platforms, tanks, and other related structures and systems for industrial, water, or manufacturing facilities. Location These positions can be based at our Lenexa, Kansas; Lone Tree, Colorado; Westlake, Texas; Houston, Texas; or Minneapolis, Minnesota office. Opportunities for flexible work are available; we offer relocation assistance.

Responsibilities

Prepare designs for structures including research, system selection, analysis, and drawing preparation on projects ranging from moderate to large in size and complexity. May be assigned as the Lead on one or more projects.

Apply department and industry standards to oversee the preparation of calculations, project drawings, and project specifications.

Mentor and direct the work of entry and mid‑level employees for skills development. Review their progress and results. Provide direction and coaching as needed.

Leverage Building Information Modeling (BIM) to create plans, drawings, and details.

Incorporate the requirements of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract, customer Requests for Proposals (RFPs), professional service agreements, or other contractual requirements to ensure the projects meet or exceed project goals.

Coordinate with internal and external partners including cross‑discipline, construction, vendors, fabricators, and owners to address structural‑related issues or concerns.

Recommend changes for standards or process improvements as needed.

Prepare, monitor, and update project plans, schedules, and budgets (including staffing needs) for project and department management. Support estimating, scheduling and project controls as needed.

Support department managers in setting and achieving performance goals for the department.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (civil or architectural) from an ABET‑accredited four‑year college or university. Master’s coursework preferred.

Licensed Professional Engineer or in the process of completing your PE within the next 6 to 12 months.

At least 8 years of structural engineering and design experience in both concrete and steel, and at least 3 years in industrial, manufacturing, water/wastewater or building markets (preferably water/wastewater design). Experience leading projects and mentoring other engineers. Experience with modular structural design highly desired.

Must communicate effectively and constructively with other team members and disciplines, both verbally and in writing.

Proficient in spreadsheets, databases, word processing, and general computer operations.

Experienced with engineering software: CSi SAP2000 and SAFE, RISA Suite.

Experienced with BIM software: Revit preferred; AutoCAD and Navisworks. 3‑D modeling experience required.

Able to represent Kiewit Industrial Engineering professionally to owners, contractors, vendors, and other external contacts.

Base Compensation $90,000/yr – $150,000 (Actual compensation is subject to variation due to such factors as education, experience, skill set, and/or location).
