We are seeking an experienced and proactive
Network Hardware Test Engineer
to join our growing, remote team. In this lead role, you will be responsible for driving the overall QA strategy, managing testing activities, and ensuring the highest quality standards for optical transceivers across a wide range of products (SFP, QSFP, QSFP‑DD, OSFP, etc.). You will lead a team of test engineers and work cross‑functionally with R&D, product management, and deployment teams to ensure the products meet rigorous performance, reliability, and compliance requirements.
This is a senior role, perfect for an individual with a strong technical background in optical transceiver and network switch testing and a passion for driving quality across the product development lifecycle. You will play a key role in shaping testing processes, and optimizing workflows.

Hiring Range in USD from: $87,000 to $178,100 per annum. May be eligible for bonus and equity.
Oracle maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect Oracle’s differing products, industries and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity.

Responsibilities Key Responsibilities
Testing & Validation:
Lead the development of comprehensive test plans for optical transceivers, ensuring rigorous testing of electrical, optical, and environmental parameters.
Oversee performance validation against industry standards (e.g., IEEE, MSA) and custom specifications for products such as 10G, 40G, 100G, 400G, 800G, and beyond.
Lead failure analysis and root cause investigations, collaborating with engineering teams to implement corrective actions and product improvements.
QA Strategy & Process Optimization:
Define and implement best practices, test strategies, and methodologies for optical transceiver testing, ensuring they align with industry standards and customer requirements.
Continuously improve testing processes to enhance efficiency, scalability, and test coverage.
Drive automation initiatives to streamline repetitive testing tasks, including the development and maintenance of automated test scripts and frameworks.
Cross‑Functional Collaboration:
Collaborate closely with R&D, product development, and manufacturing teams to ensure seamless integration of testing activities within the product lifecycle.
Provide critical feedback to design and development teams, influencing product design and helping ensure testability and reliability of new products.
Partner with product management to understand customer needs and ensure that testing covers all relevant use cases.
Reporting & Documentation:
Lead the creation and maintenance of detailed, clear, and concise test documentation, including test plans, reports, and defect logs.
Regularly report on testing progress, key metrics, and risks to senior management and cross‑functional teams.
Provide recommendations for improving product quality based on test results and industry trends.
Continuous Improvement:
Stay up to date with the latest trends, standards, and technologies in optical transceiver testing.
Champion a culture of quality and continuous improvement within the Hardware QA team and across the organization.
Lead and contribute to knowledge‑sharing initiatives, ensuring the team stays current on best practices and new tools.
Qualifications & Skills
Education:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Optical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field.
Experience:
5+ years of experience in optical transceiver testing, quality assurance, or related roles, with at least 2 years in a lead or management capacity.
Extensive hands‑on experience with optical test equipment (e.g., OSA, BERT, optical power meters) and high‑speed data transmission protocols (10G, 40G, 100G, 400G, 800G).
Proven track record of leading and mentoring technical teams in a remote or distributed environment.
Technical Skills:
In‑depth understanding of optical transceiver technologies (SFP, QSFP, QSFP‑DD, OSFP) and industry standards (IEEE, MSA, ROHS, CE, UL).
Solid knowledge of fiber optic cabling, network architecture, and telecom protocols.
Expertise in performance validation, signal integrity, and stress testing of optical components.
Proficiency in data analysis, reporting, and defect tracking (Excel, JIRA, or similar tools).
Leadership & Communication Skills:
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to manage remote teams and collaborate across time zones.
