Job Overview We are seeking a highly motivated and detail‑oriented Accountant to join our growing finance team. The ideal candidate will be a self‑starter with strong analytical skills, an obsession with accuracy, and a solid background in finance and accounting.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Receivable / Payable
Issue customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner
Apply customer payments and maintain AR aging reports; monitor outstanding accounts and follow up on past‑due balances
Process and code vendor invoices accurately and efficiently
Ensure timely payment of vendors in alignment with contract terms
Reconcile receivables and payables and proactively resolve discrepancies
COGS & Expense Categorization
Accurately categorize COGS across multiple restaurant locations (e.g., food, beverage, packaging, kitchen supplies)
Collaborate with Operations Director and restaurant team leads where needed to ensure consistent and accurate coding
Reconcile COGS‑related transactions to inventory systems
Month‑End
Own creation of journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and reports
Connect with budget owners to ensure all invoices are accounted for
Reconcile balance sheet accounts
Identify variances / discrepancies vs historical and proactively solve with team
Assist CFO in working with cross‑functional partners to understand and prepare commentary regarding variances and action plans to solve
New Store Openings (NSO)
Partner with NSO project managers to set up new vendors, accounts, and insurance for new units.
Ensure finance readiness for new location launches (POS coding structures/account set up).
Adhoc
Track and manage insurance policies for each restaurant location (e.g., general liability, workers’ comp, property)
Assist with sales tax filings and business licenses
Coordinate with brokers and internal stakeholders during renewals and audits
Assist with transition to GAAP and ensure compliance
Maintain compliance‑related documentation and assist in audits as needed
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
4+ years of AR/AP experience, preferably in the restaurant industry
Familiarity with GAAP and exposure to audit or investor reporting
Experience with multi‑location businesses preferred Proficiency with financial systems, particularly restaurant‑specific (e.g., Toast, xtraChef, Quickbooks) strong plus
Exceptional attention to detail, time management, and follow‑through
Ability to work independently and thrive in a fast‑paced environment
Comfort in a startup / scaling environment (managing ambiguity, creating process where none exists)
