Job Overview
Ullico Inc. is actively recruiting a Supervisor, Accounting and Reporting for our Silver Spring, MD office. Reporting to the Director, Assistant Controller, this position will manage and coordinate the activities of the Accounting and Financial Reporting area. Responsible for performing complex and varied accounting work for the Corporate Finance department, applying professional expertise in investment and fund accounting to deliver accurate financial information for Ullico Inc. and its affiliated investment funds. Responsibilities
Prepare quarterly financial statements, including the consolidated cash flows, for Ullico Inc. and its affiliated companies. Prepare quarterly fluctuation analyses of the balance sheet and income statement for Ullico Inc. and its affiliated companies. Prepare annual audited financial statements and footnotes for Ullico Inc. and its affiliated companies for inclusion in the company’s annual report to shareholders. Prepare/review annual financial statements and footnotes for the Union Labor Life Insurance Company Separate Accounts and International Funds. Calculate and prepare complex journal entries related to investment accounting and various other areas. Review investment accounting reconciliations prepared by the Lead Accountant; investigate variances with external vendors and the Lead Accountant as needed. Liaise with external auditors and provide requested schedules, support, and explanations. Perform detailed monthly account reconciliations for Ullico Inc. and its affiliated companies. Research new accounting pronouncements and provide written summaries of their applications to company matters. Supervise, train and/or delegate to staff. Establish and maintain ongoing communication with staff regarding performance expectations, organization and department goals and career objectives. Provide training resources, mentoring, and employee development plans and prepare and communicate performance appraisals as appropriate or required. Document and communicate disciplinary actions as necessary. Lead the ERP implementation project for the Corporate Finance Department. Update and maintain accounting policy and procedure documentation. Perform analysis as needed and report to the upper management. Develop and implement ideas and/or procedures to enhance processes within assigned areas as needed. Perform other similar and related duties as required. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or related field. Five to seven years’ of fund accounting and investment accounting experience. Knowledge of financial reporting, GAAP financial reporting. Advanced Excel and spreadsheet reporting skills are required. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to accuracy and compliance. Must have supervisory experience and be able to deal with all levels of internal associates and outside agencies. Excellent written and oral communication skills and attention to detail are critical for this role. Salary: $140,000 - $150,000 a year. Salary Range: $140,000 - $150,000 (depending on relevant experience, skills, and credentials). This position is eligible to participate in Ullico Inc.’s (“Ullico”) annual incentive compensation program. An incentive award is contingent upon Ullico meeting financial goals set by the Ullico Board of Directors and your individual performance. The elements of the program, including eligibility, the range of potential incentive compensation, and the factors that determine the payment, will be shared with you after you become employed.
