Software Architect – Auria Space
Location: Huntsville, AL (Onsite)
Pay: $141,000 – $156,000 per year
Auria is looking to hire a Software Architect to support the Command and Control, Battle Management, and Communications (C2BMC) program, a critical component of the Missile Defense System.
The role will involve developing and maintaining a Java‑based missile defense command and control system while coordinating across multiple engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
Define and oversee the implementation of the software architecture for the C2BMC system, aligning it with the program’s design principles.
Provide direct technical support to the Chief Engineer and Chief Architect and coordinate with Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Integration & Test, and Operations & Sustainment.
Perform trade studies and analysis for current and future development activities.
Maintain software architecture artifacts for the Regional Applications Agile Release Train (ART).
Oversee the development of ART software design and assess the impacts of proposed architectural changes.
Analyze system performance, quantify performance metrics, identify bottlenecks, and measure throughput.
Support briefings, presentations, and demonstrations to customers.
Analyze, design, and implement cybersecurity requirements in software.
Collaborate with other program architects to implement enterprise architecture goals and guidance.
Understand modern architecture paradigms such as event‑driven and service‑oriented architecture.
Communicate architectural intent and constraints to a diverse group of customers, developers, engineers, subject matter experts, and users.
Qualifications
Mission‑Driven Professional: Collaborative contributor motivated by cutting‑edge solutions that protect and serve the nation and the world.
Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline with 12 years of related experience, a Master’s with 10 years, a PhD with 8 years, or 16 years of experience in lieu of a degree.
Current, active DoD‑issued Secret security clearance (eligible for Top Secret / SCI clearance).
Current DoD 8140 certification (IAT Level II or higher).
Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% of the time.
Experience in software engineering and architecture for large distributed systems, including scalability, extensibility, maintainability, and reliability.
Experience in logical and physical modeling.
Experience with Java and developing software throughout the entire lifecycle.
Preferred Qualifications
Current, active DoD‑issued Top Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
Familiarity with Information Assurance (IA) and Cybersecurity principles.
Experience with static and dynamic security assessment tools (e.g., SonarQube, OWASP ZAP).
Knowledge of Secure Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) and secure system architecture.
Experience with virtualization, containerization, and orchestration.
Ability to implement automation and CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with missile defense and command & control systems.
Experience with Test‑Driven Design (TDD) methodology.
