Position Overview Ultimate Staffing Services is actively seeking an experienced Plant Controller to join their client's dynamic team in California. The Controller will oversee all financial and accounting activities within the food processing and dairy manufacturing plant, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards. This role supports strategic decision-making to optimize plant performance and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Maintain accurate general ledger and ensure timely closing of books.
Monitor cash flow, budgets, and forecasts for plant operations.
Cost Accounting & Inventory Control
Implement and manage cost accounting systems for raw materials, production, and finished goods.
Track and analyze variances in production costs, labor, and overhead.
Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation for dairy and other food products.
Compliance & Internal Controls
Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and industry regulations (including dairy-specific standards).
Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and prevent fraud.
Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors.
Operational Support
Partner with plant management to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve efficiency.
Provide financial insights for capital projects, equipment purchases, and expansion plans.
Support pricing strategies and margin analysis for dairy and processed food products.
Team Leadership
Supervise accounting staff and ensure proper training and development.
Foster a culture of accuracy, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA or CMA preferred).
5+ years of experience in manufacturing or food processing industry; dairy experience highly desirable.
Strong knowledge of cost accounting, inventory management, and ERP systems.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
Experience with dairy production cost structures and regulatory compliance.
Ability to work in a fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
Strong leadership and problem‑solving capabilities.
Required Work Hours Monday to Friday, first shift.
Benefits Additional Details: Max Pay is $160,000. Min Pay is $130,000. This job is a supervisor position.
