Job Description AECOM is seeking an AVP, Dams Engineering Practice Leader in the West Region Water Business Line, based in Denver, Colorado. This senior‑level position oversees a team of specialist engineers and drives significant projects across the Colorado, Mountain, and Four Corners regions. The leader will be responsible for both technical delivery and business development, ensuring the longevity and safety of critical water infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Serve as a practice leader and technical lead for major dams and hydropower projects, providing expertise and leading technical delivery teams.

Act as program or project manager, directing multi‑disciplinary teams to successfully complete projects while maintaining strong client communication and delivery.

Lead proposals, engage with clients, and support senior leaders in developing business strategies for the region.

Participate in client‑facing activities to strengthen relationships and win work with new clients.

Support business strategies and capture plans, aligning with AECOM’s growth objectives and coordinating with Division Managers and senior project managers.

Coordinate with technical practice leads and division managers to match team skills with market trends and drive strategic technical leadership hires.

Qualifications Minimum Requirements

Bachelor’s degree plus 10 years of experience or equivalent education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s (MS) or Doctorate (PhD) in Engineering, Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, or related field.

Extensive knowledge of dams and hydropower markets, trends, and clients.

15+ years of industry technical and leadership experience.

5 years of experience leading projects, client accounts, or business development initiatives.

Strong reputation in the industry through participation in USSD, ASDSO, or related organizations.

Agile response to fast‑paced, complex environments and organizational change.

Proven ability to deliver projects and foster collaboration across geographies and business lines.

Additional Information

Relocation is available for this role.

Separation of sponsorship is not available now or in the future.

Occasional project or client‑related travel may be required.
