Overview
Durham School Services is recruiting a Senior Labor Relations Counsel to lead collective bargaining and labor law strategy across our dispersed operations. The role reports to the Vice President/Assistant General Counsel, Labor Relations and is open for a fully remote assignment.
Responsibilities
Lead collective bargaining negotiations, developing strategy with senior leadership. Advise on CBA interpretation, grievance handling, policy implementation, and labor litigation. Represent the company in NLRB proceedings and arbitration hearings. Develop and deliver training on labor and employment matters. Provide day‑to‑day counsel on discipline, investigations, and policy administration. Assist in strike contingency planning and external counsel coordination.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and JD from an accredited law school, licensed to practice law. 3+ years of legal practice with labor/unions experience. Strong collective bargaining negotiation skills. Knowledge of labor law and ability to provide legal consulting to operations and HR. Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills. Flexible schedule and willing to travel up to 80%.
Compensation
Annual salary range $110,000–$125,000.
