Mammography Technologist / Mammography Trainee – $6,000 Sign-On Bonus Available Join Yale New Haven Health as a Mammography Technologist / Trainee. In this role you will perform technical procedures using complex imaging equipment to produce quality mammographic images per department and organizational policies.

Perform a wide variety of technical and professional duties using complex imaging equipment to produce quality mammographic images. Duties performed according to departmental and organizational policies and procedures. Staff may be occasionally assigned to any GH diagnostic radiology locations regardless of regularly assigned work location.

Responsibilities

Performs all imaging studies and associated image verification in PACS.

Following physicians’ orders and managers’ directions, identifying the type of examination required to achieve desired results.

Maintains clean, caring, quiet professional atmosphere.

Cleans mammography equipment after each patient or before each patient, also including all patient dressing areas.

Provides assistance to physicians.

Assists radiologist with specialty procedures (e.g., stereo, needle locations, ductography).

Performs quality control and assurance functions as needed.

At the request of supervisors, participates in quality assurance and CQI team activities.

Contributes to the productivity and efficient operation of the department.

Is punctual in reporting to work and adheres to allotted time off for breaks and lunch; volunteers to work off‑shifts when needed. No more than three tardy occurrences per review period.

Promotes the Greenwich Hospital Patient/Guest Relations Program.

Acknowledges patients promptly in a kind courteous manner.

Submits relevant performance information one month prior to review.

Includes letters from patients.

Attends conferences/training programs.

In‑services attended/presented.

Qualifications

Required to meet one of the following:

Graduate of an accredited school of radiography, AS degree and graduate of an accredited allied health program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full‑time radiography instruction.

Graduate of a bachelor’s program with an additional requirement of 12 months of full‑time radiography instruction.

Must be currently ARRT Registered and in compliance with CE requirements; has successfully passed ARRT advanced mammography certification exam; has 15 hours of mammography continuing education within the past 3 years. If hired as a trainee, must complete initial full‑field digital mammography and digital breast tomosynthesis training before hire and obtain advanced certification (M) within six months of hire.

Experience

1‑3 years experience in radiography or mammography setting.

Licensure

ARRT license, advanced ARRT certification in mammography (M), current CT state X‑ray license, and BLS required.

Special Skills

Ability to manage patient care in a high‑stress environment.

Physical Demand

May be exposed to infectious diseases or hazardous material. Requires standing and walking most of the day, handling lightweight equipment and occasional lifting, pushing and pulling of heavy objects. Must have the ability to hear and observe surroundings and have manual dexterity; assists in moving/lifting patients with physical problems.
