Position Overview We are seeking a Technical Publications Engineer to develop, revise, and maintain technical manuals and documentation in support of Department of Defense (DoD) aerospace programs. The candidate will ensure compliance with S1000D, MIL-SPEC, and internal publication standards while collaborating closely with engineering and sustainment teams.
Key Responsibilities
Author, edit, and maintain technical manuals, maintenance instructions, and illustrated parts data.
Ensure compliance with S1000D, MIL-STD-38784, and other applicable military documentation standards.
Utilize XML-based authoring tools such as Arbortext and FrameMaker to produce and update content.
Manage and publish documents through Content Management Systems (CMS) and configuration control processes.
Collaborate with engineering and logistics teams to incorporate technical updates and service bulletins.
Support document validation and verification activities to ensure technical accuracy and consistency.
Required Skills & Tools
Proficiency in XML, Arbortext, and Adobe FrameMaker.
Experience working with Content Management Systems (CMS) for configuration and revision control.
Knowledge of S1000D, MIL-SPEC, and aerospace documentation requirements.
Education
B.S. in Mechanical Engineering or Technical Communications (or related discipline).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience developing DoD or aerospace technical manuals.
Understanding of logistics support analysis (LSA) and interactive electronic technical manuals (IETMs).
Strong attention to detail and excellent written communication skills.
