Job Summary and Responsibilities Under the general guidance of the Director of Rehabilitation Services and Therapy Manager, the Physical Therapist administers patient evaluations, plans and implements treatment for all assigned patient diagnoses. The role supervises Physical Therapist Assistants in clinical duties, demonstrates exceptional time‑management, and applies sound judgment in clinical decision‑making. Additionally, the Physical Therapist assists in supervision, training, and orientation of new staff (Level II and III only), participates in case conferences when appropriate, engages in discharge planning activities, and coordinates with multidisciplinary teams, utilization review case managers, and CCS‑paneled providers for ongoing care post‑discharge.
Job Requirements
Level I: no prior experience required.
Level II: minimum one year experience as a Physical Therapist working in a clinical setting with an adult population, preferably rehabilitation.
Level III: minimum five years experience as a Physical Therapist in a hospital setting with an adult population, preferably rehabilitation; demonstrated leadership, initiative, and ability to assume responsibility; proficiency in all PT II skills; one or more areas of well‑developed clinical expertise used regularly in the assigned area; current continuing education in a specialty area.
License/Registration/Certification: Current California Physical Therapy license or eligibility for one; Healthcare Provider CPR.
Education and Training: Bachelor's, Master’s, or Doctorate degree from a Physical Therapy institution accredited by the APTA.
Location Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center, 389‑bed acute‑care, nonprofit hospital in Long Beach, California. Serves over 50,000 patients annually and offers comprehensive services including Level II Trauma Center, Level III NICU, heart care, and orthopedics.
Pay Range $50.80 – $75.57 per hour
