About The Role The T&D Estimator ensures competitiveness, profitability, and growth by preparing cost estimates for various transmission, distribution, and substation electrical construction projects. Responsibilities include collecting cost information, evaluating bid specifications and drawings, and ensuring a successful bid. The T&D Estimator II acts as the lead Estimator for projects and supports other Estimators.

Essential Functions

Complete cost estimates for assigned projects, defining work tasks for transmission, distribution and substation projects.

Develop complex estimates with minimal errors or omissions.

Utilize previous work and bidding history to establish production assumptions.

Track and compare project histories to produce up‑to‑date man‑hours and costs.

Plan and execute work while meeting customer‑defined submission deadlines.

Schedule and attend field job walks with customer, subcontractor, and construction personnel to determine constructability requirements.

Attend on‑site pre‑bid meetings and perform job site visits.

Identify qualified suppliers and subcontractors.

Perform accurate material takeoffs for vendor pricing.

Solicit material vendor pricing and subcontractor proposals, assembling and distributing project documentation into RFQ/RFP packages.

Prepare commercial aspects of proposals, including work plans, clarifications, and exceptions.

Lead the estimate review process with internal and external stakeholders.

Lead the estimating team and manage bidding activities.

Support other Estimators with bidding activities and training.

Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Perform other duties as assigned and excel at working in a company‑designated office or field location.

Understand and comply with the Company’s Code of Business Conduct and Ethics Policy and other industry‑specific professional and ethical standards.

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of estimating experience for Estimator I.

Minimum 5 years of estimating experience for Estimator II.

Minimum 8 years of estimating experience for Senior Estimator.

Minimum 1 year of estimating in transmission, distribution, and/or substation.

Preferred Education

High school diploma or GED.

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or similar field; relevant experience considered in lieu of a degree.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Proficient in interpreting construction and electrical drawings to accurately formulate estimates.

Knowledgeable of electrical materials and methods of installation.

Proficient in Microsoft applications.

Excellent analytical and organizational skills.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks and changing priorities.

Ability to work under time pressure and adapt to changing requirements with a positive attitude.

Self‑motivated, proactive, and an effective team player.

Professional interaction with all levels of employees, vendors, and clients.

Self‑driven with the ability to stay on task for extended periods independently.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary range: $70,000 – 178,000 per year, depending on role level and location.

Paid weekly; posted ranges are made in good faith.

Two days per week remote work option for non‑field roles, based on position and performance.
